Andscape is a Black media platform dedicated to creating, highlighting, and uplifting the diverse stories of Black identity. Magnified by the power and reach of ESPN and The Walt Disney Company, the Andscape umbrella includes an editorial division, book publishing arm, film and television division, and music publishing group – each united by the shared mission of illuminating the culture and experience of Blackness. Founded in 2022, Andscape is a reimagination, expansion and diversification of The Undefeated's former platform.

The Director of Digital Video and Social Content oversees the development, production and distribution strategy for short-form video across Andscape platforms and Social channels, including quick-turn and trending content as well as original short features. This individual also will be responsible for the strategy, growth and workflow of Andscape's social platforms. This person will be able to track performance metrics and video analytics across social platforms, enhancing the distribution models for all channels. This individual must be an expert in Search Engine Optimization, organized, and able to recognize unique and compelling content that will thrive across mobile/social environments. Must have or develop an awareness of the operations of multiple Disney properties in order to collaborate successfully in identifying and/or developing social and video content to be optimized for multiple platforms. This is a visible role requiring executive presence and presentation skills both inside and outside of Andscape. This role will also be Andscape's lead in determining a strategy and KPIs for growth on YouTube as well as emergent social platforms. This role will manage a Senior Social Media manager and Senior Video manager in the implementation of both content and distribution strategies for Andscape's YouTube channel and other social platforms.

This role is based in DC but may be open to other locations: NY, CA, or CT.

Responsibilities:
• Clearly direct a staff of producers and editors in a highly competitive, rapidly changing environment.
• Develop and implement strategy to grow Andscape's YouTube audience
• Work closely with ad sales and other related groups to drive revenue
• Drive strategic multi-platform Digital and Social video distribution, with heavy emphasis on increased consumption, engagement, and monetization
• Create a playbook that clearly defines the role and strategy of social for Andscape.
• Participate with teams internally and externally in the creation and distribution of content that best activates new audiences.
• Serve as the liaison between business teams to accurately share objectives, and establish effective communication of YouTube and Social Media strategy and goals.
• Participate with Business Development, Ad Sales and Legal in the evaluation of new revenue partners that integrate into Andscape's properties. Provide expertise on the LOE needed to achieve a successful integration. Provide on-boarding and coordinate training to production teams as we expand content efforts.  
• Analyze usage and performance metrics that can lead to content enhancements and improvements.
• Simultaneously manage personnel and content planning with strategic programming strategy.
• Engage internal content partners to ensure the best creation, sharing and distribution of video content.
• Maintain proficiency and knowledge in latest trends, technology and best practices for digital video content. Maintain proficiency and knowledge in latest trends and best practices for video distribution on YouTube and social platforms.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7 years of combined media experience with a focus on digital media, product development, content strategy, and project management.
• Experience directing live digital productions on multiple platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for providing direction to the team.
• Thorough understanding of formal project management methodologies including the ability to identify and resolve. issues, manage risk, budgets and timelines, develop work plans and specifications, perform resource allocations and run team meetings.
• Demonstrated experience with digital media revenue models and programmatic advertising.
• Masterful understanding of Search Engine Optimization methods, and data analytics.
• A thorough understanding of digital video production is mandatory.
• Experience creating and programming video content, and publishing to live streams.
• Strong base and understanding of Black cultural moments and current events.
• Understand and follow closely the latest in social media trends.
• Excellent headline writing skills; an understanding of optimal tactics for social distribution.
• Ability to work quickly and juggle multiple varied tasks during a typical work day.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience managing large-scale YouTube and/or Media channel(s).
• Experience in editing content, specific to the needs and specs for multiple social media platforms.
• Advanced non-linear editing skills (Quantel, Final Cut, Avid, Premiere, After Effects, etc.).
• Experience working in a mobile-first content environment.
• Experience managing social media accounts for large audiences.
• Experience working with a variety of digital content management systems.
• Exposure to technical and product teams in a digital media organization.
• Strong presentation skills.

Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts, Journalism or New Media or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
