Job Description
The Associate Manager is the day-to-day content manager of the SECN Digital platform. This position involves oversight of the publishing activities of digital production assistants in addition to publishing content. This role works exclusively a night, weekend and holiday schedule.

The primary skillset required for this position is the ability to think critically and communicate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position requires a combination of content and operational management with decision-making abilities. This position will frequently be approving multiple pieces of content while also triaging and escalating technical issues.

The Associate Manager should possess intelligent news judgement, timely problem-solving, an understanding of the collegiate sports environment and a specific understanding of the Southeastern Conference.

This role includes the management and execution of the digital platform content budget, which includes live data feeds, live video, video on-demand and written content. The content budget consists of approximately 1,500 events and produces more than 4,000 pieces of content annually.

Additionally, the Associate Manager will play a significant role in the management and design the Southeastern Conference's digital platform and its functionality. This project will require the AM to interact with partners at all levels of both the conference office and the schools.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the digital content budget, which includes live event schedules, live video, data feeds, as well as VOD and written content.
• Edit and publish digital content using a content management system.
• Create an annual content budget, outlining major tentpole events and create a coverage plan around them.
• Aggregate and publish content to the digital platform from SEC Network and its stakeholders, including the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and its member institutions.
• Provide direction and oversight of a team of part-time content publishers and their work throughout a shift.
• Top edit several posts and features per day
• Ensure that an extensive workflow consisting of 10+ steps is executed properly for each piece of content published.
• Performs pre- and post-production digital video editing.
• Write excellent, attention-grabbing headlines that both intrigue and entertain users.
• Prioritize content based on audience demand & search data.
• As needed, represent the digital platform and its editorial team at select events throughout the year

Basic Qualifications:
• Self-starter who is capable of managing a heavy workload and has excellent time management skills. Attention to detail, reliability, effective communication and work ethic are a must.
• Minimum of 3 years of practical digital content management and television experience, including editorial, reporting and/or copy editing experience.
• Ability to be self-sufficient as an individual as well as work well within a team setting.
• Ability to recognize content with social engagement potential, publish expediently and notify relevant parties.
• Basic news journalism experience and news judgment; understands assigned sport(s) from a journalistic point of view. Exhibit a solid understanding and appreciation of news, story play and trending topics.
• Familiarity and working knowledge of online content management systems and digital video production-related techniques.
• Strong communication skills and experience as part of a cross-functional team.
• Basic understanding of HTML and related web authoring tools and software.
• Basic understanding of video editing software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent people management skills.
• Knowledge and perspective on SEC-related history and current developments, as well as athletes, coaches and league operations.
• Demonstrated ability to write and think capably about several different sports

Preferred Qualifications:
• Possess an understanding and appreciation of search engine optimization and social media.
• Strong English grammar and excellent organizational skills, particularly as it applies to grammar and syntax.
• Experience with joint-venture operations.
