Job Description

USER INTERFACE ARTISTS- Epic Games is looking for Senior User Interface Artists for our Cary, North Carolina studio to lead the creation of user interface and marketing assets across all of our products.

Responsibilities
• Lead interaction design and visual design for our products and marketing.
• Vision holder for user interface art/design - responsible for both aesthetic and technical aspects of the discipline.
• Working as part of a multi-discipline team to develop and implement simplified solutions to complex interaction models.
• Own design throughout the entire UI development pipeline. - From initial designs and wireframes, through interactive mockups and prototypes, to final implementation.
• Develop interface solutions that are systemized and optimizes for asset management within this pipeline.
• Lead the artistic direction for new and existing properties.
• Versatile skill set which allows for a more holistic approach to developing seamless spatial UI solutions is a plus.
• Experience in 3D art, animation and UI design to develop more immersive user experiences.
• Proven experience in environment art, screen layout, lighting, composition, camera work and animation, is also a plus; experience in pulling these skill sets together to develop in game prototypes or final content.
• Act as a custodian for user interface materials and shaders used throughout the UI art pipeline. Utilize experience with materials and UV math to develop UI space materials for both systemized shaders and VFX used throughout the UI domain.
• Supervise and mentor the art team, assisting in training while sharing techniques and workflow.
• Instruct and share experience, knowledge, and technical skills to improve and maintain quality of art generated for production.
• Set ''quality targets'' for new or existing properties.
• Provide clear recommendations on team structure, company policy, and artistic direction.

Requirements

Education:

Minimum of 3-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in Graphic Design and/or Multimedia, or closely related course of study.

Experience:

Credited on at least three AAA (triple A) rated video games.

Five years of experience in the video game industry with the following artistic disciplines:
• User interface design (art)-graphic design, interaction design and motion design.
• Game art production and implementation experience-art production for modern game engines like Unreal Engine, Level and Environment Art, Lighting, Composition, Screen Layout, Visual Information Hierarchy, Material/Shader development, VFX, 2D Animation.
• Pre-Production and look development, Game asset management and optimization, Multi-Sku Development, Art Direction, and visual design leadership.
• Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects.
• Unreal Engine or equivalent game engines.
• 3D Software proficient-3D Studio Max, Maya, ZBrush.
• Agile development methodology-Perforce and Jira.

Applicants must submit a portfolio demonstrating their work in support of the requirements listed above, not only the end user-facing visuals but also the process/iterations/prototypes etc. involved in achieving those visuals. Ideally the applicant's portfolio can support any or all of their listed hard skills as well. To qualify must pass an art proficiency exercise.
