Localization Engineer (Contract)
Epic Games Unreal Engine team is looking for a Localization Programmer to join our team as a contractor with the goal of improving the localization support of a world-class AAA game engine and tools pipeline. This person in this role will be working remotely.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with strong development and debugging skills over large codebases, along with a passion for and understanding of localization and internationalization.
The person in this role will be working with other members of the localization team to:
• Design and implement improvements to the Unreal Engine localization pipeline and tools.
• Identify and fix localization issues within the Unreal Engine Editor.
• Fix bugs and maintain the Unreal Engine localization pipeline.
• Analyze and fix problems such as load times, memory usage, and performance issues.
• Support external customers by answering their requests and questions.
The ideal candidate will have a mix of the qualifications below:
• Excellent C++ skills.
• Well versed in software engineering principles.
• Experience developing and debugging a large codebase.
• Experience dealing with localization concerns for large dynamic projects.
• Experience writing UIs with a toolkit such as WPF, QT, Slate (UE4 UI system).
• Familiarity with an existing game engine with an understanding of game engine and editor concepts.
• Familiarity with multiple platforms and/or Unreal Engine 4 is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal).
