Role Summary:
The Business and Legal Affairs Manager role is a support function for three key parts of the Business & Legal Affairs team: (i) the distribution of film and TV content in EMEA; (ii) sales to third parties made by the International Distribution team; and (iii) assisting with the day-to-day legal operation of the Spanish office.
This role will be a central part of the Business & Legal Affairs team. The primary responsibilities will be the review of a variety of corporate and commercial documentation, drafting of a broad range ancillary documents and amendments, performing various administrative functions with a focus on supporting the Spanish office, and ensuring the smooth running of existing and new content exploitation arrangements and wider corporate deals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Drafting and negotiating Spanish language acquisitions, together with additional work with the wider Business & Legal Affairs team around eOne's other productions, outputs, and licences (including internal sub-distribution arrangements) and sales;
• Advising on and the negotiation of general commercial agreements (i.e. such as the supply of goods and services to the company);
• Advising on compliance with Spanish law requirements, including performing any required administrative duties, together with liaising with outside counsel;
• Providing commercial advice to Spanish senior management team;
• Reviewing, advising, negotiating amendments and/or ancillary legal documentation where necessary, in respect of chain of title, clip licences, music licences and other deliverables;
• Co-ordinating and liaising with other teams within the group, including: finance, technical operations, business operations, marketing and sales teams to ensure correct information flow.
Key Competencies:
• Fluency in both written and spoken Spanish, ideally with experience of working in a Spanish-speaking environment.
• Meaningful experience of Spanish corporate and regulatory requirements would be welcomed.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• A legal background (degree, conversion course, other relevant experience), ideally 2-4 years PQE, but that does not have to have been achieved under English law.
• An understanding of media (film, TV and/or music) is preferable.
• Strong Microsoft office skills (excel, word, powerpoint).
• An open mindedness and willingness to learn every single aspect of the job.
• Enthusiasm and attention to detail.
• An ability to manage a varied workload and communicate effectively to all areas of the business globally, regardless of seniority.
• An ability to cope under pressure and strict deadlines.
