Job Description

Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities include:
• Ensure the accuracy of by title, distribution revenues and contract costs through the review and approval of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and analyses
• Provide accounting guidance to the business as it pertains to TV International Distribution contracts including revenue recognition for complex deals, foreign exchange, and contract costs
• Provide analysis on monthly and quarterly results as compared to budget and forecasts
• Oversee and review monthly financial schedules such as unbilled receivables, deferred revenues, and other accruals
• Manage and assist in preparing materials for external and internal audits
• Actively involved in ensuring compliance with internal controls
• Proactively identify risk and opportunities within areas of responsibility, propose solutions and implement where necessary
• Manage, train, support, and mentor multiple reports
• Work closely with receivables team to ensure accuracy of distribution receipts and provide support for intercompany transactions where necessary
• Support Director with financial reporting requests, audit queries and ad hoc items as required

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field and professional designation (CPA)
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
• Experience with direct oversight and leadership of senior accountant level staff
• Strong technical accounting skills; knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, and reporting requirements
• Experience with US GAAP considered an asset
• Strong excel skills a must
• Effective communication skills and able to address various audiences
• Experience working within the Media Industry preferred
• Pro-active and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Sound analytical thinking, planning and prioritization skills
