Accountant, Production (Contract)

Summary: The Production Accountant will report to the Director, Production Accounting. The Production Accountant is responsible for managing the budget, cost reporting, forecasting, cashflow, maintaining the financial records. The Production Accountant is responsible for the full life cycle of a production, development through wrap, including accepting turnover/wrap. This role will work on multiple productions at one time.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsibilities include budgeting, cash flows, cost tracking, variance analysis, forecasting estimated final cost (EFC).
• Prepare Month end reporting including bank reconciliations
• Responsible for Cost Report and Trial Balance reporting reviews with Production Executives
• Timely EFC updates and true-ups, including production cash flow planning/analysis and variance explanations.
• Thorough review and clean up show trial balances including tracking of bank loans, receivables and review of tax credit estimates.
• Opening writer's room, writer's payment schedules, and misc. expenses
• Onboarding crew payroll, Payroll entry, A/P entry, Petty cash reconciliation
• Review payroll edits
• Comply with all Studio procedures for POs, invoices, checks and time card approvals.
• HST filing and assistance with final tax credit calculation(s)
• Monitoring and Auditing Cashet expenses and account balances
• Ad Hoc projects as necessary
• Comply with all Studio procedures for POs, invoices, checks and time card approvals.

Qualifications:
• 5+ years Production Accounting experience in Film/TV
• BA/BS in Accounting preferred, not required
• Strong knowledge of Guild Payroll and basic knowledge of Canadian labor laws
• Knowledge of generally accepted, standard accounting and financial practices (SOX experience a plus)
• Experience with payroll, EP Canada, SmartAccounting, EPOL, Movie Magic Budgeting
• Detail Oriented
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Can work independently and manage accounting across multiple shows
• Willing to work in a team environment and collaborates well with others
• Must have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc)
