Job Description

The Producer will work on a new, ongoing narrative project, set to launch in 2021. The Producer works closely with the project's small team to find and develop stories, work with contributors, and get stories from idea to completion. Like many producing jobs, it is a combination of creative and administrative work, from prepping interviews and cutting tape, to managing reporting and contacts. The Producer is organized and ambitious - someone with a demonstrated ability to come up with new approaches to stories, and take them all the way through the production process. This is a mid-career position for somebody wanting to stretch themselves on new, ambitious projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

CREATIVE
• Pitching new ideas
• Research and reporting, often in support of a contributor
• Pre-interviewing and booking guests
• Producing interviews
• Cutting tape and structuring stories
• Writing first drafts of episodes
• Some work with the editor to refine writing
• Mixing full episodes

ADMINISTRATIVE
• Managing contributor relationships
• Organizing tape and reporting on the project's server
• Working with legal to clear individual projects
• Occasional contract management

Qualifications:

Primary Qualifications:
• 3 to 5 years experience in audio production (narrative not required, internships count)
• Fluent in audio editing software (Pro Tools preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to organize multiple, ongoing projects
• Can point to at least a couple narrative audio works you produced or reported
• Ability to work collaboratively, with multiple people of different opinions, backgrounds and experiences
• A wide and varied set of interests, including in the process and construction of stories
