Senior Accountant (6-month contract)

Senior Accountant I: Please note this is an initial 6-month contract

The Challenge Ahead:

The Controlling team supports statutory compliance and local and US GAAP reporting for EA Swiss, EA's international headquarter. Important collaborators to the group include FP&A teams, Finance shared services and non-Finance partners involved in the sale of digital and packaged goods and some corporate activities.

A key member of the Financial Controlling team, the Senior Accountant I will assist the GL Manager in maintaining the Swiss Co GL ensuring that transactions are recorded in a timely & accurate manner in accordance with US GAAP, monthly reporting, and all relevant support for audits and tax compliance.

The Senior Accountant I will also assist from time to time on certain European consolidation activities. The function includes significant liaison with EA Corporate departments, and other GL Managers throughout Europe, allowing widespread exposure to both territory and European-wide finance issues.

What a Senior Accountant I does at EA:
• Prepare and book journal entries under guidance of the GL manager
• Prepare reconciliations and month-end close reporting for local and Corporate requirements, using Hyperion, Excel, and Cadency (including, but not limited to, Fixed Assets, subledger close, SG&A accruals, PO review, B/S reconciliations, HFM reconciliations and related supplementary data forms)
• Preparation and review of monthly SG&A expenditure with FP&A and budget holders to ensure all commitments are captured
• Ensure that ICO is agreed with all Worldwide entities by transaction on a monthly basis
• With guidance, review the VAT reconciliation and analyze VAT balances
• Delegate and review work carried out by offshore accounting support teams
• Perform controls related to financial reporting, including SOX controls
• Read, understand, and complete steps as needed by general ledger (GL) procedure documents
• Support the implementation, standardization, and improvement of all processes, including testing and documentation of new systems
• Contribute to a high-quality month-end close process
• Active collaboration and timely communication to the GL Manager and Regional Controller
• Prepare materials for off-cycle reporting, including annual balance sheet reviews
• Support internal operational and external financial audits
• Involvement with Shared service AP department in ensuring appropriate reconciliations and sub-ledger close accuracy

The next great EA Senior Accountant also needs:
• ACA/ACCA/CIMA-qualified or equivalent financial accounting studies
• Prior equivalent GL work experience with a multinational company
• Prior public accounting experience
• Fluency in English required, working knowledge of French a plus
• Experience with month-end reporting deadlines or preparation of local statutory financial statements
• Experience with large ERP financial accounting systems. Experience with Oracle R12 and Hyperion Financial Management a plus
• Experience working with remote or offshore teams a plus
• Familiarity with US GAAP. Familiarity with Swiss laws a plus
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) required, including data mining tools and PivotTables
• Think outside of the box; willing to challenge existing processes to promote efficiency
