Job Title: Director of Software Engineering - EADP, Data Team

The EA Digital Platform (EADP) group provides central services that help game teams to tap into the power of the global EA ecosystem. Compatible across multiple platforms and devices, our platform empowers teams to foster deeper, more meaningful relationships with our players. The EADP is the foundation on which EA's games are built. By providing reusable capabilities that game teams can easily integrate into their games, we allow them to focus on making incredible games. These building blocks are made up of high-level service platforms including Commerce, Data and AI, Developer Experience, Gameplay Services, Cloud, Identity, and Social.

The Challenge Ahead:

Lead the team to accelerate the EADP Data team offerings. You will work with a globally distributed Data team - product management, engineering and operations - and game studios. You'll have the opportunity to build sophisticated platform capabilities handling several hundred-thousand requests per second and driving the player engagement of many of the industry's most popular titles. In this role, you will build server-side systems that deliver new functionality within the larger Digital Platform, as well as work on regular improvements to the systems to keep them at top-notch performance. What will you be doing?
• As Director of Software Engineering (EADP, Data team) you will attract a team that includes ML and Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers in building our data, experimentation, and AI platform solutions.
• As a technical leader, you will be hands-on in architecting and designing features with the team that moves our platform forward.
• You will be one of the catalysts for change to ensure that EA has the appropriate data tools and information to promote goals and strategies.
• You will guide and evaluate the work of the team through the lens of delighting our internal customers.
• You will work with the team and peer teams to provide tools that allow large datasets to be easily accessed and analyzed to provide insights that guide the goals.
• You will find new ways to use data and machine learning to re-imagine or better support current processes.
• You will create a path to growth for the team by helping them adopt outstanding engineering methods and processes.
• You should value simplicity and scale, work in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in any number of related fields including Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field. A master's degree.
• 12
or more years of experience developing software services
• Five or more years of experience managing large engineering teams
• Implement scalable, low-latency, high-throughput systems that have 99.9% availability.
• Experience building powerful yet easy to use and adopt data systems and tools supporting high-volume and reliable interactive modelling, analysis, and experimentation
• Deep knowledge of Data systems
• Experience with Apache Kafka, Flink, Docker, Caching technologies, and database technologies (such as MySQL, Cassandra, Hadoop, Spark, Dynamo DB )
• Applying cloud services like AWS or any other cloud vendor for computing, storage, analytics, and deployment
• Experience working in high technology services and support (e.g., online services, software, web technologies).
• Experience working and excelling in a fast-paced, agile, organization
• Strong written and oral are important - being able to explain technical issues to all kinds of partners
• Stay on top of technology, participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to products and tech stack
• Strong sense of ownership/'can do' attitude and high attention to detail
• Comfortable working with large volumes of data
• Experience in the game industry and gaming experience is advantage.
