Job Description
Part of the Disney Branded Television Group, Disney Television Animation is a high capacity digital animation television production studio. Due to Disney Television Animation's strong use of commercial and custom software technologies to create its animation products, its use of technology, engineering, development techniques and software is critical to its production operations and workflows. We're looking for an intellectually curious, business-savvy, analytical individual to join the Disney Television Animation Technology team as a Studio Pipeline Engineer (SPE). In this role, you will be responsible for developing and supporting Production Pipeline solutions across the various Disney Television Animation Productions and Development.
General Responsibilities:
The SPE is responsible for developing the Studio's production tracking and management toolset. This includes designing and developing pipeline scripts and applications, and maintaining the existing pool of pipeline scripts and applications.
A high-level breakdown of the Pipeline Engineer's responsibilities follows:
• Analyzing pipeline software procedures and problems
• Evaluating the effectiveness of existing software solutions
• Making recommendations to improve: production software output, efficiency, and workflow
• Code testing / integration & high -level support of developed code
The SPE partners with the technology department's management, department staff, and production personnel to determine the Studio Pipeline needs. They are also responsive to our environment's critical production timelines – able to analyze bugs or other software glitches, track them to the corrupted code, implement timely repairs, and make recommendations for future improvements.
Basic Qualifications:
• 4+ years working in a production pipeline software development environment, or equivalent experience
• Strong experience with Python & Git
• Strong experience with Windows PowerShell and Linux command line functions
• Strong experience with Digital Content Creation Applications such as Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Photoshop
• Strong experience with Production Tracking Applications such as Shotgrid, FTrack
• Must be able to work independently with technical and non-technical staff
• Strong documentation techniques and possess creativity in developing easy-to-use tools and quick fixes
• Able to strategically solve complex technical issues, communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
• Able to learn and work in a fast paced, production critical environment while staying well organized and detail oriented
• Familiarity with Television or Film production or any other fast-paced environment
• Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Film & Animation Production, equivalent; or equivalent industry experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency in one or more of the following technologies:
• C/C++
• OpenImageIO, OpenColorIO.
• Thinkbox Deadline
The hiring range for this remote position is $129,560 to $199,870 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
