Director, Publicity (Nat Geo & DBT)

Based in Los Angeles, the Director, Publicity for Nat Geo & DBT will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and executing comprehensive, creative and strategic global media plans with short-term and long-term objectives, identifiable goals, and results, as well as the implementation of these strategies, securing brand-building, and business driving media coverage.

Responsibilities
• Operate as the lead PR executive in Los Angeles for assigned shows, working directing with producers to develop specific and detailed show strategies.
• Pitch, book, and cover interviews (both via phone and in-person).
• Write and edit press materials.
• Develop talking points and draft remarks/speeches.
• Plan and oversee set press visits.
• Manage show budgets and oversee related employees and agencies.
• For assigned shows, plan and oversee talent at key industry events such as TCA, SXSW, ComicCon and Upfronts.
• Maintain strong communications and relationships with network talent, internal and external producers, as well as various freelancers and vendors to ensure the flow of information and identify PR opportunities.

Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years experience in publicity, ideally in a streaming, television and/or entertainment setting
• Excellent written, communication and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Highly organized, professional, motivated, and extremely detail-oriented with strong prioritization skills.
• Must have ability to multitask, work well under pressure and work effectively under changing priorities, deadlines, and daily time constraints.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of A/V needs/formats preferred.
