Job Description

At Hulu, data is essential for all our decision-making needs whether it's related to product design, measuring advertising effectiveness, helping users discover new content or building new businesses in emerging markets. This data is deeply valuable and gives us insights into how we can continue improving our service for our users, advertisers and our content partners. Our Content Data team is seeking a hardworking Data Engineer with a strong technical background and is passionate about diving deeper into Big Data to develop state of the art Data Products.

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Data Architects and other Data Engineers to design, implement and deliver successful data solutions
• Help define technical requirements and implementation details for the underlying data warehouse and data marts
• Develop and optimize performant database, data model, integration and ETL in different Big Data environments
• Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and governance
• Be an active participant and advocate of agile/scrum practice to ensure health and process improvements for your team

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience working with data systems and distributed systems such as Hadoop, AWS, Spark.
• Strong SQL skills and ability to create queries to extract and build tables
• Basic scripting skills (Python/JS) to write and maintain ETL jobs
• Agile and Scrum experience
• Knowledge (or Understanding) of MapReduce or other Hadoop implementations – exposure to Hive or Pig to query and process data in Hadoop, a big plus.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skill
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience building ETL Pipelines
• Experience with cloud solutions (AWS, Redshift, Snowflake, other)
• Familiarity with Data Modeling and Data Warehousing best practices(Star Schema)
