Context of the role

Discovery+ is the single destination for infotainment content across the globe with content spanning categories such as Adventure, Travel, Food, Auto, and Wildlife. The Discovery+ app which is already live in India, and slated to be available in multiple countries starting Jan 2021, is rated 4.3+ across Android and iOS platforms and is the only aggregated destination of over 20+ premium brands extending from real life entertainment to knowledge based programming.

In the context of the rapidly evolving media and entertainment sector, third party integrations with the likes of telecom companies and Original Equipment Manufacturers will play a central role in shaping the Discovery+ user base across multiple geographies.

The Engineering team at Discovery+ is hiring a Technical Architect-Frontend. This role will be instrumental in the launch of the Discovery+ app across platforms and devices as listed above. The Technical Architect will work in close collaboration with the inhouse Development team members and the Global Engineering Team of Discovery to provide robust, performant, and scalable solutions for the Client UI frameworks, libraries, and tooling. They will be required to base their solutions/suggestions to address the peculiarities of the different platforms while ensuring the integrity of the overall code.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide solutioning and a roadmap to optimal path for partner integrations

• Assessing the API and client frameworks currently in place and working with the core engineering staff to recommend solutions for improvement

• Resolving technical problems as they arise and providing supervision and guidance to development team member

• Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing improvements where needed

• Updating the stakeholders about any potential problems with the technical solutions being implemented

• Assessing the impact that certain design choices have and also uphold the structural integrity of the code

• Reduce technical debt across platform teams across geographies

Skills & Requirements
• 8+ years of Software Development experience in a related industry.

• A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent

• Rooted in fundamentals and ability to deliver from designs to algorithms to implementations

• In-depth understanding of at-least 2 platforms:

• Android, iOS, Web

• A good command with at-least 3 programming languages:

• Kotlin, Swift, JavaScript, Java, Go, Python

• Experience working with ALM solutions (JIRA, Confluence, etc. and other current web technologies.

• Proven experience working with senior leadership and experience defining and delivering on a product roadmap.

• Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle from conception to delivery
