Overview

The Scheduler will help the Discovery Channel programming team to strategize and implement the linear schedule. The scheduler will help programming to help the team create the strongest possible schedule. In addition, they will closely communicate with production, research, development, press, and digital about upcoming programming plans and alert the teams of any changes. A successful person in this role will have excellent problem-solving skills and is a self-starter. They will be organized, and quickly act if any issues arise on the operations side. They will use both creative and analytic thinking to help create a strong schedule that will lead to audience retention and growth.

Responsibilities
• Work with a senior manager to create monthly program grids for Discovery Channel including responsibility for planning non-prime schedules.
• Selecting and scheduling content for non-prime linear schedule.
• Interpret ratings and research data to support and improve schedule performance and understand audience behavior.
• Ensure timely communication of schedules, schedule priorities and schedule changes
• Strategize and help create revisions, reloads, and repacks using existing content
• Pitch and execute creative holiday stunts and marathons
• Liaise with operations teams to ensure versions and break formats are all correct
• Coordinate with production on delivery dates and communicate any delays
• Work with the Scheduling Coordinator to input the schedule into the systems
• Ensure that the linear listings are correct across various 3rd party platforms

Qualifications
• 2-4 years experience in a planning or similar TV role desirable.
• An analytical mind with creative flair.
• Great attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Highly self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of audience research.
• Experience in Microsoft suite.
• Experience in Google suite.
• Must have legal right to work in the US.
