Overview
The Sales Assistant position at Discovery Communications is the entry level role that leads you towards the path to a successful career within multi platform media sales. Sales Assistants provide sales support to Account Executives, Sales Planners, clients and agencies regarding media on Discovery's US networks which include: HGTV, ID, Animal Planet, DIY Network, Food Network, TLC, OWN, Cooking Channel, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, Science & Motor Trend Network and all Digital Platforms
Responsibilities
• Establish strong business relationships and act as a liaison with advertising agency counterparts and internal Discovery departments including Pricing and Planning, Commercial Operations, Marketing and Billing and Direct Response.
• Respond to all client requests in a timely manner
• Execute all client orders across all linear and digital platforms ensuring that they are in approved weekly programming and compliant with all client requirements.
• Handle program and commercial changes and issue change notices to clients.
• Work with Account Executive, Sales Planners and the Marketing department on promotional assets, material deadlines, and approvals.
• Work closely with TVCO and Ad Ops to schedule buys
• Reconcile billing discrepancies with agencies and billing department.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed by Account Executives and/or Vice President(s) Ad Sales for assigned categories.
Qualifications
• Strong computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups
• High level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
• Learns and applies new information, concepts, and techniques in area of practice
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
• Strong problem solving skills and customer service skills
• Detail oriented and team player
• Must be able to work collaboratively with team members
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies
• Must be able and willing to provide overtime work when necessary
• Previous related experience is a plus
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States
