Job Description
OverviewNewshub currently has an exciting opportunity for a promos producer with a proven track record to join our team - delivering world class TV and radio promos daily for Newshub Live at 6 pm and The Project.
You'll be creative, a great writer, have a strong sense of tone, a passion for news and current affairs, an ability to come up with the perfect promo line for any story, be competent using Avid and able to perform under pressure while working to intense timelines. And you'll be able to do this all while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
• Write promos for Newshub Live at 6pm & The Project making sure they have unique selling points
• Cut and publish vision for promos
• Ensure presenters are ready to record promos at the necessary times
• Ensure promos are delivered to Pres/Playout on time
• Understand the unique audiences for Newshub Live at 6pm and tailor promos to best serve those audiences, working to the strategic goals identified for the programme
• Understand the unique audiences for The Project and tailor promos to best serve those audiences, working to the strategic goals identified for the programme.
• Use proven promos techniques to 'sell', not tell the story
• To work closely with Discovery ANZ creative hub to ensure you working to brand guidelines and objectives
• Excellent knowledge of Broadcasting Standards Authority rules and guidelines
• Identify the best pictures available and edit in a compelling way, with a view to entice viewers
• Ensure all promos are strongly selling our brand & stories
• Assist producers with programme production, as required
• Assist in the production of breaking news specials, as required
• The Employee shall ensure they are familiar with the Employer's health and safety policies and procedures, and any modifications to those policies and procedures that may be introduced from time to time
• Carry out your work safely and without endangering or causing harm to yourself, fellow staff members, contractors, customers, visitors, or the general public.
• Other duties as required
• The Company may, after fair and reasonable consultation, change your duties, from time to time, for commercial reasons but not so as to substantially change the nature of the position
Qualifications
• Tertiary level qualification or equivalent industry experience of 5+ years
• Strong organisational skills
• Excellent editorial nous
• Ability to use Avid Media Composer
• Knowledge of New Zealand news and current affairs
• Promos experience
• Strong video editing skills
• Passionate about and has a very good understanding of news
• Understand techniques to help 'sell' news bulletins and stories.
• Excellent knowledge of laws governing defamation, libel and other applicable legal issues
