Manager - Content Compliance

Responsibilities

The role's primary responsibility is to oversee that all of Discovery's content comply with local and regional legislations and the organization's content compliance requirements. The position will provide compliance direction to the Content DLA teams to ensure that the department meets regulatory requirements and upholds Discovery brand values, across all linear channels and digital platforms. The role will work in close collaboration with the PS&A team and Production team. This position is responsible for managing and providing solutions to compliance issues as well as implementing any regulatory changes through ongoing team training.
• Lead organisation of compliance queries and issues
• Oversee and inform of regulatory changes across the region
• Work closely with the Legal Group VP to ensure regulatory changes are implemented, updating departmental guidelines as required
• Lead and support ongoing Compliance training and mentoring – liaising and working with the Content department as appropriate
• Assess third party acquisitions as required – provide feedback and guidance on compliance restrictions
• Guide and oversee the editing and reversioning process: review work; support edits as appropriate and provide hands-on editorial guidance in line with Discovery's core values and Standards & Practices
• Maintain oversight of critical and priority deadlines for both Digital Platforms and Linear Channels
• Oversee Re-voiced versions, providing script direction and feedback as required
• Manage, lead and/or support new initiatives, projects and launches
• Maintain effective relationships with colleagues across the Legal and Content Supply chain to troubleshoot and provide swift solutions.
• Create and implement robust and innovative solutions to all new requirements, workflows and logistics.

Qualifications
• Solid legal experience and a track record within the industry in Kids, Factual, Lifestyle and Entertainment genres
• Extensive experience in understanding and applying complex compliance regulations -
• Experience in providing Compliance training and mentoring
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, work calmly under pressure and prioritise in order to comply with tight business and critical deadlines
• Solution focused with confident decision-making skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with teams across the global business
