Responsibilities
The role of the Insights department is to convert viewing data, analytics, consumer & market research into concise insights and strategic recommendations that provide Discovery Networks UK with competitive advantage.
This role works closely with the VP Planning & Insights and other members of the Insights team to support multiple departments across Discovery UK by producing high quality, actionable reports and insights that provide the business with a complete understanding of the discovery+ user, and provide an in-depth understanding of the UK VOD market.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide detailed performance reporting on Discovery's UK D2C (direct to consumer) products and communicate key insights to teams across the business.
• Use analytics tools (e.g. Adobe Analytics), central reporting tools & dashboards, and other data sources to provide a clear view on what is driving performance for discovery+.
• Fully exploit available TV, and digital data and blend with other research tools to reveal more about our users and their content choices and behavior.
• Provide the discovery+ planning team with clear, actionable information to help grow our user base & drive consumption.
• Present reports/reviews to senior stakeholders distilling the key insights.
• Work with the central analytics team to align on best practice, and keep up with implementation & product developments.
• Respond to ad-hoc insight requests with customised deliverables and recommendations.
• Directly manage a Digital Insight Analyst defining priorities, and managing workload.
• Support commercial teams and help develop compelling sales presentations for our D2C products making use of all available research tools.
• Use third party research providers & tools to provide a comprehensive view of the market and our users.
Requirements
Requirements:
• At least 5 years' experience working within the digital/media industry (either within a broadcaster or a company with a strong D2C presence).
• Enjoy digital research, understand the wider D2C market & how it fits into the broader media ecosystem.
• Experience working with either Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics – with strong experience of creating custom segments & automating reports using report builder.
• Strong grasp of digital metrics across long & short form content
• Ability to plan & prioritise workload, and drive results.
• Ability to work with diverse, cross-functional, global teams.
• Ability to develop relationships within a complex matrix structure.
• Proven project management skills and an ability to lead others and work across departments.
• Experience of using & building dashboards in either Tableau or PowerBI.
• A solid understanding of the issues shaping the UK D2C market.
• Good knowledge of computer Microsoft & Google software packages, (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Sheets, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
