The Vice President of Brand & Marketing Strategy will oversee, develop and execute various marketing initiatives and branding efforts to achieve long- and short-term organizational goals. This position is responsible for building brand equity through the development of locally & globally relevant campaigns and activations that will help win the hearts and minds of consumers and next generation fans. To be considered, you should exhibit a successful history of building brands, building relationships, be digitally savvy, use data to inform and support your decisions, and have a willingness to be hands-on with execution. You should also be a people-first leader who is a big thinker, with a passion for elevating brands, storytelling, and most importantly wants to make a lasting impact across the marketplace.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
• Responsible for the development and execution of marketing and brand strategy to further overall marketing goals and drive cross-functional organizational business priorities relating to ticketing, retail, events and corporate partnerships
• Provide strategic leadership that defines the brand vision and develops impactful tactics to grow and diversify our fan base for the Detroit Pistons
• Drive compelling brand storytelling and directly collaborate with the Creative & Content team on branding and visual communication with a shared responsibility for delivering a cohesive look, feel and brand voice across all communication channels
• Close collaboration with PR, Basketball Operations, Marketing Operations, Game Presentation, Creative & Content, Social & Digital and Community & Social Responsibility on big brand initiatives
• Work closely with the NBA on tentpoles events, on-court retail implications and on-court brand partnerships
• Manage contracts and financials for the brand & marketing strategy team including the building, optimization and management of department budget and spend
• Leadership and development of members of the brand & marketing strategy team
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• 10+ years Brand & Marketing experience (previous sports marketing experience preferred)
• 5+ years of demonstrated people leadership, coaching and developing world class talent
• The ability to work under stringent deadlines and quickly adapt to change
• Demonstrated ability to win through superior consumer marketing
• Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects at different stages of development
• Exceptional communication, prioritization and time management skills
• Breakthrough thinker with a strong pulse on culture and emerging trends
• Strong execution, communication and critical thinking skills, business savvy and an opportunity seeker
• Proven ability to lead agency relationships to achieve gold standard results
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key partners and influence at all levels
• Ability to anticipate issues and resolve them based on sound business judgment
• Background in merchandising or retail marketing a plus (assortment creation, collaborations, new product creation and data driven analytics
