Business Unit: Deluxe Cinema
Deluxe Cinema is responsible for the mastering and distribution of all digital content to theaters on behalf of major cinema studio clients. These responsibilities are inclusive of a variety of content services including digital cinema mastering, 2D and 3D subtitling, format validation, and social media transcoding and fulfillment. The group also manages of both electronic and physical distribution of digital cinema and non-digital cinema assets to theaters. The group is responsible for a variety delivery support functions such asset tracking, delivery network management, digital cinema key management and distribution, and a 24/365 exhibitor support call center. The group's goal is to advance technology within the theatrical content mastering and delivery space to stay ahead of our client's ever evolving content mastering and distribution needs.
Role: Technical Project Manager, Cinema
Cinema Technical Project Managers are primarily responsible for managing the technical project frameworks for worldwide Mastering and/or Distribution development programs. This includes but may not be limited to organizing and leading project meetings, following up on action holders, building out and updating project trackers, and otherwise facilitating interfaces between all varieties of project stakeholders. This role will report into the Cinema Project Management Office (Cinema PMO), but directly supports projects across all cinema divisions. The project portfolio for this role will focus on either Mastering/QC or Distribution, in EMEA or North America/APAC. However, the exact portfolio will likely vary across programs and regions to some extent. Common technical projects include may include aspects of product development, infrastructure development, and/or technical operations development.
The right individual for this role will be highly organized and a great communicator, working regularly with technical operations, support, client services, software and systems engineers, other project managers and product owners, and executives, as well as external clients and vendors. They should also be technically curious, with an expectation of synthesizing information overtime and building an understanding of existing technical sub-systems to help guide improvements to those systems and related workflows. Interest and experience in entertainment postproduction and digital cinema mastering/distribution is a plus.
Duties:
• Own, evolve, and maintain the technical project management framework for the given portfolio
• Manage requests/approvals: identifying stakeholders, outlining scope and requirements, defining business justifications, and building effort and timeline estimates
• Manage regular project meetings: schedule and lead meetings, take and distribute meeting minutes, record and follow-up on action item
• Manage project reporting: track progress from scoping to rollout while reporting status to operational and executive stakeholders
• Manage operational rollout: help organize operational training and assist with documentation
• Build a depth and breadth of knowledge across cinema workflows and systems to assist in technical project roadmap and architecture discussion
Qualifications:
• 5+ Years of relevant experience (technical operations, product development, technical project management, or engineering) or equivalent education/training
• Ability to communicate effectively with both operations and developments teams
• Ability to exert influence and align goals across a matrixed organization
• Understanding of different project/product management frameworks: Phasing, roles and responsibilities of stakeholder, status tracking and review
• Technical documentation and training experience
• Driven, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
Desired Knowledge and Experience
• Technical understanding or operational knowledge of Digital Cinema standards, mastering, or distribution
• Knowledge of software, network, systems, or cloud engineering concepts
• PMP, PMI, or other Project Management Certification
• AWS Certification
This role is based in Los Angeles, California and the base pay range for this role is $80,100.00 - $95,000 annually. Actual amounts will vary depending on education, skills, experience, and geographic location.
