Position Title

Senior Vice President, Financial Controller

Position Summary

The SVP, Financial Controller will support the CFO in planning, directing and coordinating worldwide accounting, financial reporting and analysis functions. The SVP, Group Financial Controller will be responsible for leading the management, development, interpretation and administration of policies and processes relating to accounting, internal control, and overall financial reporting and analysis. The SVP, Group Financial Controller will also act as a business partner to the CFO, COO, and Executive Committee to support the development and execution of various business strategies. This position will be located in Burbank, CA.

Main Duties
• Preparation of consolidated financial reporting of worldwide operations including audited annual financial statements, monthly consolidated financial reports to senior management, stockholder and lenders and consolidated budgets and forecasts.
• Managing and co-ordination of the group wide budgeting and forecasting process.
• Various group wide accounting tasks managed centrally including maintenance of the general ledgers/chart of accounts, asset management and capital reporting, intercompany balances and creation/validation of extract files for reporting.
• Directs the reporting of consolidated financial information in a manner designed to meet external and internal reporting requirements, provide timely, meaningful reporting of results and effectively plan for the financial needs of DESG.
• Manages the preparation of worldwide consolidated financial statements through timely close of month-end and the provision of accurate and complete financial information. Reports include;
• Annual US GAAP audited financial statements with comprehensive notes and disclosures.
• Monthly internal reporting pack of consolidated financial information, MD&A and analysis of key variances and other supplemental reports as required.
• Monthly and quarterly external reporting requirements for stockholder and lender group, including quarterly and annual compliance certificates.
• Co-ordinates and manages the group wide annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process.
• Takes a significant role in the global external audit process including inter-action with the audit team, and preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation to the financial statements.
• Works with the Director of Tax to provide the supporting information and documentation required for determining tax provisions and preparing tax returns. Assists with tax audits as required.
• Responsible for maintaining accounting policies.
• Responsible for maintaining the Group delegation of authority
• Responsible for various group wide customer reporting requests
• Monitors trends and developments in accounting policy and financial reporting to determine the potential impact at DESG.
• Ensures the integration and conversion of new acquisitions to the DESG financial and reporting system.
• Contributes to the building of a motivated reporting and analysis team capable of providing excellent, value-added services to DESG. Coaches, mentors and develops staff.
• Promotes a positive and progressive work environment such that DESG can attract and retain top performers.
• Continually identifies and implements best practices ensuring an efficient, cost effective Finance and Accounting team with a focus on quality and client service.
• Assists with special projects and other tasks assigned by the CFO, DESG.

What You Bring
• Degree in accounting/CPA, preferably Big Four.
• A minimum of 5 years' progressive financial experience, at least 5 years of which are in a supervisory/management capacity.
• Technically strong in US GAAP/accounting principles, practices and procedures.
• Knowledgeable and innovative in identifying opportunities for business and process improvements.
• Well-versed in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting and business planning.
• Proven ability to develop and implement changes improving effectiveness of accounting practices and processes.
• Good knowledge of computer systems applications to accounting, administration and operations.
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency with Excel is mandatory.
• Flexible, multi-task person with high energy who enjoys and functions well in a fast-paced environment. Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines through effective time management.
• Good ability to direct, coach, develop and motivate staff.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong interpersonal skills; good team player with ability to build and nurture solid relationships.
• Ability to lead through consensus and influence while appreciating the need for effective decision making and results.
• A walk-around manager who consistently sets high productivity and performance standards while keeping a broader perspective and pursuing longer range plans.
• Well-developed analytical skills; good with details.
