Director, Linguistic Quality

Position Summary

The Director of Linguistic Quality is responsible for planning, developing and leading a team of linguistic quality experts who oversee quality programs, language leads and translators. In this role, you will provide strategic direction for delivering linguistic excellence across all services and products offered by Deluxe.The ideal candidate will have the drive and desire to 'make things happen', be highly motivated, have an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a hunger to learn and solve big problems. This is a role for an expert leader with solid experience in localization in the media & entertainment space. Main Duties
• Serve as a subject matter expert on audiovisual translation and linguistic quality principles
• Own linguistic quality strategy and its tactical implementation
• Own departmental KPIs and quarterly and annual goals
• Provide leadership and guidance to a team of managers and/or senior managers responsible for a variety of linguistic quality programs; provide necessary support to the teams responsible for execution of the programs
• Stay current on linguistic quality trends and best practices and lead the application of those best practices across the global organization
• Identify industry trends, new technology, certifications, and modifications needed to maintain or enhance programmatic and service offerings
• Foster relationships with vendors and translators to ensure highest quality services and long-term partnerships; provide vision and strategy to scale capacity
• Oversee collection and analysis of data, conduct quality reviews and audits of staff and vendor partners
• Oversee drafting, implementation, adherence and updating in-house and client-specifc linguistic style guides
• Maintain a high standard of customer service, ensuring the department responds to escalations quickly and effectively; ensure quality breakdowns are looked into promptly and proactively collaborate to resolve issues that impact quality of service
• Create and deliver compelling presentations about quality trends and improvement plans
• Build capacity for creative problem-solving and high standards of communication with both internal and external stakeholders
• People management, attrition management, succession planning for team reporting directly into you
• Be a change agent to help drive change management effectively. Motivate and contextualize the need for change with teams to ensure successful adoption of new processes and technology in an ever-evolving business
• Lead teams with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment
• Represent Deluxe in a positive, professional and innovative manner through participation in industry groups and events

What You Bring
• Comprehensive knowledge of audiovisual translation and language quality principles,
• 5+ years of experience in managing linguistic or other quality programs
• Experience in analyzing linguistic quality data, making recommendations for corrective and preventive actions that have long-lasting impact
• An attraction to applying deep critical thinking to difficult problems
• An attraction to analyzing large data sets, creating compelling reports and data-driven insights
• Ability to identify risks and effectively manage activities to minimize impact
• Exceptional communication skills across all levels (verbal, written)
• Ability to navigate across a global organization and be an agent of forward progress through consensus-building and decisive action
• Ability to engage with and motivate a culturally diverse, distributed team
• Ability to motivate and manage individuals to consistently perform and improve
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
