The Job

CNN Digital is seeking an experienced Supervising Producer to join our team to help us experiment, ideate, develop, and produce live and tape content. The ideal candidate must have a strong command of news programming and production with extensive experience in digital and/or television news production. This leadership role requires someone who is process-oriented and willing to try new things while remaining calm, decisive and nimble in a fast-paced, 24/7 news environment. Due to the experimental nature of the content, agility, flexibility, strong editorial judgement and superior storytelling skills are a must. A ferocious appetite for audience data and the ability to apply audience feedback and behavior into content choices are required. This position plays a key role as a people manager leading a team and building the team's capabilities. This key position will oversee the day to day logistics and assignments ensuring the top priorities are executed in a timely and engaging way. The ideal candidate will easily form close working relationships across various internal groups, will have a passion for a deadline-driven news environment, and a sharp eye for the quality and integrity of the content. A knowledge of best practices for mobile video consumption and an understanding of platforms and distribution points is a must.

The Daily
• The Supervising Producer will be responsible for oversight and execution of ambitious and original content in diverse video formats.
• Work closely with producers to identify and develop compelling content around topical news and key issues of the moment and manage the production process from assignment to completion.
• Manage talent and a team of producers/associate producers/editors to ensure that all series in the news/politics portfolio meet the content, quality, and journalistic and legal standards of CNN.
• Build schedule, workflow, and budgeting for projects.
• Meet aggressive deadlines while completing high quality and on-budget work.
• Leverage data/analytics/user testing to inform decisions
• Leads a team handling key people aspect such as recruitment, managing performance and development to build skillsets.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop, execute and deliver on big ideas and priorities
• Collaborates and communicates closely with internal digital and global teams and all other parts of the CNN digital areas to ensure high-level cooperation and alignment on editorial voice, style guides, quality and consistency of content and approach.

The Essentials
• 8+ years in a deadline-driven, high-profile news environment.
• 2-3 years of experience leading a team - track record of building editorial teams and managing them in a fluid, deadline environment
• College degree or equivalent experience
• Proven ability to develop and produce video over mobile and/or television platforms.

• Superior writing and editing skills .
• Understanding of diverse video formats, from live programming to storytelling.
