The Job

As a Sr Staff Product Designer, you are a member of the world-class CNN Digital Product Design Team, which is responsible for creating industry-leading user experiences engaged by millions across the globe. CNN is driven by a shared commitment to put our users at the center of the experiences we build and to push the boundaries on what an exceptional digital experience can be. The Sr Staff Product Designer is an experienced user experience designer who enjoys collaborating with product managers, engineers, researchers, content strategists, data scientists, and other designers to build and grow our CNN digital product experiences that help inform & engage our users, and impact CNN's bottom line.

In this role you will have the opportunity to impact the core experience of one of the most trusted news organizations in the world. Our advertising sales drives billions of dollars in revenue for CNN digital properties. The heart of this role is delivering a superb experience for our users, while maintaining optimum ad revenue.

The Daily
• You will help to drive the design vision for our core revenue experiences on CNN.com and our mobile apps
• You will balance user needs and business needs; you'll advocate for users with a strong sense of user empathy, while understanding the bottom line of our business
• You are strategic and creative with the ability to execute both thoughtful UX and intuitive UI design, and influence cross-functionally
• You possess the ability to create multiple concepts and understand when to deploy the right level of design fidelity for the appropriate user validation approach
• You are committed to challenging the status quo. You understand the boundaries of technology and business; but most importantly you know when to push it
• You take smart risks and champion new ideas, and you love to roll up your sleeves to get things done
• Drive and execute on CNN core revenue efforts to create a seamless and delightful experience for our users
• Identify opportunities to leverage data and prototypes to support user needs and business rationale
• Create end-to-end customer journeys that inform new product features, from daily improvements to longer-term strategies
• Identify new opportunities that use Design to solve company problems
• Guide, with user research and analytics data, to develop a deep understanding of how users engage, what matters to them and identify pain points.
• Be highly communicative and responsive both within your team and across the company.

The Essentials
• 12+ years related work experience, specifically as a product designer, with at least 4 years focused on ad technology
• A design portfolio demonstrating strong UX and visual design solutions, that must include elegant solutions in the ad tech space
• Mastery in UX software such as Sketch, Figma etc.
• Prototyping skills a plus
• Foundational understanding HTML and CSS.
• Exceptional track record to execute on product design strategy, mentor designers, and partner with cross-functional team members.
• Experience building world class product experiences and streamline workflows with continuous iteration and improvement.
• You must have impeccable communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to clearly communicate with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams, and be fluent in partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
• Experience leading and building world-class product experiences and streamlining workflows for continuous iteration and improvement
• Mastery and able to guide on user experience design, including usability principles, user research methodology, testing techniques (A/B, Multi-Variant), design theory, and interaction design
• Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
