The Job
CNN is the world's most essential and engaging source of video and digital news, and we're
embarking on a crucial mission to grow the next generation news and information consumer
product. You'll be joining an empowered cross-functional team building the trusted new digital
products, platforms, and formats that put CNN's talent, expertise, and content programming -
and the directions it goes next - directly in the hands of consumers.
The Internet is changing the news and information landscape, and we have an ambitious product roadmap grounded in journalism and facts. The data platform team spans across all CNN experiences to understand our users, and provide insights into how to best serve them.
The Daily
• Build developer tools to ensure that instrumentation is of high quality for data users.
• Develop cross platform libraries/SDKs for Web/Mobile/Etc. applications to enable analytics and personalization
• Be a self-starter that can independently solve complex engineering problems
• Maintain high quality coding/testing/documentation standards for yourself and your team
• Be passionate about software engineering with a strong sense of ownership for the code that you and your team write
• Seek self-improvement and are adaptable to suggestions and feedback
• Hold yourself and your team to high standards while maintaining friendly, respectful relationships
The Essentials
• BS degree in Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with Frontend Javscript framework like React and Typescript
• Full-stack industry experience, or hands-on familiarity with both client and server technologies
• Have a deep understanding of software data structures and algorithms
• Proficient knowledge of test and build automation tools
The Nice to Haves
• AWS or other cloud development experience
• Mobile development experience such as Swift or Kotlin
• Experience building automated testing infrastructure and CI/CD
• Working experience with Python
