The Job

WarnerMedia seeks a Sr. Graphics Software Engineer for the CNN Design department. The Sr. Graphics Software Engineer leverages an in-depth knowledge of vizrt and computer programming to greatly enhance the capabilities of vizrt and tailor this powerful software to the needs of the Design team. This role provides quick turnaround time for troubleshooting, often eliminating the need for support from other engineering groups and/or vizrt. This position is the department's software engineering Subject Matter Expert.

The Daily
• Leads the Design software engineering efforts and regularly partners with team engineers on major network initiatives such as Election Coverage and software deployment.
• Enables the design team to concept, develop and implement templates for highly complex storytelling graphics.
• Leads projects working with Design leaders, engineers, and vendors (as needed) - gathering relevant technical factors and partnering with appropriate teams and offering solutions and implementing solutions.
• Analyzes and recommends improvements for the existing graphics workflows.
• Creates custom software and/or scripts to improve Graphics department workflows.
• Proactively advances and updates technologies and techniques across all vizrt platforms.
• Represents Design teams in small to large, company-wide technical projects, and makes recommendations to senior Design leadership in support of these projects.
• Recommends and makes improvements on vizrt system procedures, and serves as go to person, as the in-house subject matter expert in Design for vizrt.
• Supports Graphics department, engineering groups, control room staff, and newsroom staff with vizrt-related issues. graphics support to control rooms during live daily programming and events.

The Essentials
• 7+ years of experience in graphics or engineering field
• 3 to 5 years - expert level knowledge of vizr
• Bachelor of computer science from accredited college or university or related equivalent
• Ability to determine technical requirements by analyzing user needs
• Experience prioritizing/managing expectations with clients under extremely tight deadlines
• Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and build upon existing software;
• Proficient in an object oriented programming language such as C#; VBScript knowledge; Oracle database and SQL experience; Back-end development experience
• Team player with attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Experience in a broadcast environment. Flexible schedule: Ability to work extended hours, including overnight hours and weekends as needed
• Reel is required, be prepared to highlight 2-3 case studies and specific contribution for each.
