Job Description

Concept, design, present and produce still and animated graphics to support CNN, CNN International and CNN Español network Programming.

The Daily
Successfully manages assigned projects for CNN, CNN International and CNN en Español. If necessary, effectively utilizes outside resources used in creating motion and set design, music production and any other services that pertain to the branding of the network.
Outstanding design skills complimented by strategic creative thinking to ensure product is on-message, on-brand and on-deadline. Exhibits a passion for branding, motion graphics and visual storytelling.

Has solid understanding of the technologies used in creating motion design and also understands their limitations. Should be able to quickly determine most cost effective direction without compromising quality. Provide input on new equipment, software and plugin purchases.

Thorough understanding of CNN Design standards is appropriately applied and advocated on all projects.
Oversees project workflow and timelines to ensure all deadlines are met. Acts as a liaison between graphics and other support departments.

Keeps up with current news events that pertain to CNN, CNN International and CNN en Español networks and assesses how these can be effectively supported with graphics.

During breaking news, quickly determines graphic needs of both networks; promptly and accurately expedites all necessary elements. Follows through with the editorial staff to ensure all needs are met.

Provide support on Daily News Graphic production as needed.

The Essentials
4+ years experience in television or equivalent work experience.

Displays outstanding presentation skills with the ability to advocate and defend creative decisions to senior management.

Embraces working in a diverse, collaborative environment and is willing to train and assist other designers on various levels. Inspire and mentor other team members as directed and actively contribute to overall positive and creative atmosphere of the department.

Excellent computer, organizational and interpersonal skills required.

Expert level at Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) Cinema 4D knowledge is also a plus.

An understanding of, or experience with creating animations across multiple monitors for set branding.

Degree from accredited art school with emphasis in graphic design, motion design or related field (illustration, photography, industrial design, visual communications) or equivalent work experience.
