The Producer II will be a key member of the CNN Business Video team, primarily focusing on daily and breaking news videos.
This person will pitch ideas, make assignments, and oversee producers as they execute daily and breaking news videos. They should be confident operating independently and leading others.
When it comes to breaking news, speed is key. This Producer II will help however possible – doing research, gathering elements, editing, and writing scripts, handling approvals, and communicating with partners across the organization. They'll also pay close attention to video performance data and use audience insights to inform their assignments.
The ideal candidate is a news-oriented producer with a love for breaking news in the business, tech, and media space. They should be well informed on the news of day and love to hunt for buzzy video stories and moments. They should have the ability to spot errors and provide feedback to improve the final product. They should also be a team player, willing to pitch in however needed. Sound editorial judgment and creativity are a must, along with an ability to navigate a large deadline-driven news organization.

• Planning for big events in business, tech, and media
• Assigning videos to producers
• Writing and/or editing scripts
• Overseeing edits
• Publishing videos using our content management system
• Collaborating with key partners across CNN
• Using data to monitor audience demand/interest in topics
• A track record of excellent news judgment, plus a love of business, tech, and media news
• Experience creating and overseeing digital video
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• 6+ years of experience in a national or major media market
• Knowledge of post-production software such as Adobe Premiere or similar
• Ability to work holidays, weekends, overnights, and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require
