The Job

The Photo Editor/Features is responsible for photographic coverage of a variety of beats that include Style, Travel, Space and Science, Wellness, and
Original Films and Series. The photo editor will lead the visual coverage of these sections by pitching, researching and producing photo galleries, executing other visual stories, and advocating for smart and innovative
journalism.

The photo editor at times will also work with other news desks across the digital newsroom to work on breaking news and other enterprise projects.

The Daily

You will work closely with the editors on Style, Travel, Space and Science, Wellness, and Films and Original Series.
• Produce and edit visual assets for CNN feature stories, including breaking news and newsletters for all platforms (desktop and
mobile).
• Maintain a very high level of photographic standards and assign for feature and enterprise stories.
• Work with CNN's Rights and Clearances team to ensure that images coming from third-party sources are licensed properly.
• Act as quality control on images that are graphic or raise a red flag, especially coming from third parties that require deep vetting and discussion
• Pitch, develop, edit and build a powerful visual story, incorporating multimedia and the use of innovative storytelling tools.
• Work with a diverse range of subjects and
photographers, keeping our global and multigenerational audience in mind. You will also work to strengthen relationships with the photographers you are directing.

The Essentials
• 4+ years of photo editing experience in a newsroom.
• Solid news and features background with an understanding of a
variety of themes within the lifestyle genre.
• Strong news judgment and an ability to work in a fast-paced news environment.
• Experience working at a digital news platform or a news photo agency
preferred.
• Knowledge of emerging and established photographers and photo agencies around the world preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication and collaborative abilities.
