The Job
Assigned to the Chief International Investigative Correspondent and her team, the successful candidate will research and contribute to both short and long-form pieces. Utilising open source investigative (OSINT) skills to support the team's investigations, this is an opportunity to be part of a team with a history of ground-breaking, award-winning investigations and to develop greater editorial and investigative skills.
Working from our London Head office in Old St, you will have the opportunity to work for a truly global company. With global scope and local focus, we'll find and share stories that matter to our audiences. On screens of every shape and size you'll find CNN.
The Daily
• Monitors and researches developing investigative stories, topics and images, as directed by Seniors in support of the Chief International Investigative Correspondent's team and reporting.
• Ingests, logs and transcribes images directed, responsible for metadata.
• Where applicable, provide information about the size of the organization managed, operating budget, revenue accountability, number of employees or other quantitative data pertinent to this position.
• Liaises with library and picture sources to obtain, clear and enter video to enhance our storytelling across all platforms.
• Interfaces with Image and Sound and Digital to support Desk Editors and Producers and support field as required.
• Where applicable, travel to other global locations to help research and investigate topics.
The Essentials
• Undergraduate degree in journalism or related studies.
• Proven research experience.
• Experience with basic OSINT skills; geolocation, satellite imagery, metadata analysis and reverse image search.
• Willingness to learn and expand upon OSINT skills.
• Technically adept.
• Innovative and creative.
• Ability to perform under pressure.
• Knowledge of international affairs.
