The Job

The Growth Marketing Manager, Retention will oversee subscriber retention, lifecycle, and winback campaigns for CNN+, a new streaming video subscription product set to launch in early 2022. The Manager will draw on knowledge of subscriber behaviors and retention best practices to extend subscriber lifetimes and successfully winback lapsed subscribers. As a member of the Growth Marketing team, they will collaborate with key internal partners (Growth Product, Editorial, CX) to test and build scalable engagement and retention programs.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success leveraging data-driven insights to build and execute against strategic marketing plans.

The Daily
• Manage strategy and execution of cross-channel retention, lifecycle and winback campaigns, including complex journeys, triggers, and automations
• Leverage data and insights to drive testing strategies to optimize the subscriber lifecycle and reduce churn for at-risk subscriber segments
• Oversee testing roadmap (offer, creative, frequency, segmentation, landing pages, etc.) and collaborate with internal and external partners to drive implementation
• Partner with Customer Experience to test into pre-cancel ''save'' strategies and continually optimize offers, positioning, and language
• Collaborate with Email Marketing Manager, internal, and external teams on creative strategy and production of emails and landing pages in support of test plan
• Partner with Data Intelligence to build and refine cohort-based retention dashboards to identify trends and actionable insights for each lifecycle phase
• Analyze campaign results, build benchmarks, and develop and share ongoing performance reports

The Essentials
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in lifecycle, email, CRM or retention marketing for a DTC subscription service, preferably in SVOD entertainment
• Demonstrated success analyzing retention performance, generating and actioning on derived insights
• Extensive experience interpreting data to identify opportunities to optimize the customer experience and mitigate churn risk
• Success driving high-value initiatives in a very cross-functional environment
• Strong collaboration, communications, and interpersonal skills
• Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities and projects
• Experience in working with site analytics tools, such as Google Analytics or Omniture
• Experience managing a small team
