..Your New Role...

The US Economy Writer is responsible for reporting coverage of each day's most essential economic news stories, delivering breaking news coverage of US government-Issued reports, economic analysis, Federal Reserve and Treasury policy decisions and other essential coverage of America's economy for CNN Business and the broader CNN audience and network. The focus of this beat will be on several key issues: jobs and the evolving labor market, inflation, the impact of rising gas prices, the growing wealth gap and more. The ideal candidate must love business news, with a particular enthusiasm for covering and contextualizing economic news for a broad consumer audience.

Your Role Accountabilities...
• Accuracy: The candidate must have strong reporting skills and previous experience covering the economy and parsing through government data. Clear and accurate storytelling will be a top priority.
• Execution: The ability to spot and write timely and smart news stories on the economy and work across teams.
• Pitch and write breaking news stories about the US economy and the policies, global events and decisionmakers driving consumer and business behavior.
• Report stories that explain complex economic-related information to a general news audience.
• Write analytical pieces and in-depth stories about the economy and economic policy.
• Be skeptical, but not cynical – be genuinely excited by the changes and disruptions to the US economy and beyond, but also ready to take a critical look at why those changes are taking place.

Qualifications & Experience...
• 3+ years of digital experience
• College degree or equivalent industry experience
• Strong knowledge of or passion for business and financial news
• Excellent writing and research skills
• Demonstrates leadership qualities
• Strong editorial judgement
• Strong communication, team collaboration skills

The Legal Bits…
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York City. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $77,840.00 - $144,560.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
