The Job

CNN's Content Management & Information Services group oversees the vast video archive of CNN Worldwide. Through our efforts, we ensure that the company's library of 5 million+ video assets are preserved and managed to enable future findability and re-use. Using editorial judgment and knowledge of CNN Archive policies, the Content Selections Specialist reviews, evaluates and selects video for permanent archive from content acquired and produced daily across all CNN networks.

The Daily
• Ensures existing metadata is correct and conforms to consistent style, and supplements metadata with accurate locators, keywords and restriction information
• Uses inhouse systems such as iNews, CNN Search, MediaSource, NewsDesk, and MIRA to research and supplement video information.
• Indexes video using keywords from MIRA controlled vocabulary, adding new keywords to the vocabulary as appropriate.
• Creates keyword groups to apply relevant keywords consistently to stories and to support quick and accurate retrieval from the department's online video catalog
• Handles an often-heavy workload on a tight deadline
• Possesses the skills and knowledge necessary to work independently, including remotely and on solo shifts weekends, overnights, and holidays
• Related duties as assigned
• As CNN is a 24x7 news operation, schedules include non-traditional hours, including weekend and holiday shifts

The Essentials
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 3-5 years' experience with managing metadata in a content management system, preferably with experience in original cataloging or indexing.
• Candidates with news production or media archiving experience desired, especially in a digital environment.
• Familiarity with CNN newsroom systems such as iNews and Mediasource desired
• Candidates must have proven computer proficiency, superior organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent current events awareness, flexibility in scheduling, and an ability to work quickly under tight deadlines
• As CNN is a 24x7 news operation, schedule flexibility is a must
