Communication Director (Original Series)

The Communications Director will create and execute high-impact and innovative publicity campaigns to promote CNN Original Series airing on both CNN US Television and CNN+, the network's streaming service launching in 2022. The candidate will also help lead linear and streaming communications strategies in the press and all publicity efforts on both platforms on behalf of CNN Original Series.
What will you be doing?
• Manage publicity of CNN Original Series including programming, talent and executives, across both CNN US television and CNN+.
• Identify opportunities; create, frame and proactively pitch story ideas to targeted media in trade publications, newspapers, magazines, radio and online media.
• Manage a communications team supporting these efforts, while working collaboratively with partners.
• Service media requests and act as a source of information on the programming, talent and executives.
• Run projects including status reports, media monitoring, coordination of press materials, portfolio of speaking engagements.
• Monitor and conduct media and social outreach.
• Develop and maintain media lists and relationships with press.
• Schedule and cover talent interviews and appearances.
• Develop a deep knowledge of industry and trends.
• Generate innovative ideas to participate in brainstorming sessions.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have a proven track record launching and promoting programming on cable/network television or on a streaming platform, as well as sustaining press coverage and working directly with talent. The position requires excellent judgement, strategic and succinct communications skills, as well as superior writing skills. Must be a self-starter who comes to the table with ideas and excitement. Must thrive in a faced-paced environment and on deadline. Should handle an abundance of programming with ease. Imperative to have a network of relationships with reporters, media outlets and opinion formers. Must be an all-around media-savvy practitioner, prior experience working with a global brand is a plus. Must also have a proven track record as a successful manager. The Comms Director will also manage speaking engagements and will travel when necessary.
Minimum 7-9 years publicity experience in the docuseries, nonfiction, longform and/or entertainment world.
