The Job

CNN is looking for an Associate Producer for the Capitol Hill team.

The Daily

The Associate Producer will join a newsgathering Capitol Hill team covering daily news. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to researching information, supporting the newsgathering activities, writing digital stories, viewing and selecting the strongest and most accurate video elements for packages and live shots, interviewing news makers and tracking social media for research purposes. APs should be familiar with all important stories and the elements that go with them. Other responsibilities include ordering and/or producing graphics, preparing editing requests and using technological tools to research and gather video and information. It will also assist with researching and writing script for on-air programming.

The Essentials
• Four-year degree or commensurate work experience
• 2+ years of experience working in new environment in local news, cable or at the network level
• Strong editorial judgement and production skills
• Strong research and writing skills are essential
• Ability to work in a fast pace 24/7 news environment with tight under tight deadlines
• Understand the information, video and graphic elements of a story and be diligent in making sure of the accuracy of each
• Extremely well organized, detail-oriented, able to prioritize assignments and handle the changing timelines of multiple ongoing projects
