Responsibilities
CNBC Digital is looking for a healthcare reporter for our website to lead our pandemic coverage as well as other healthcare related stories, everything from the tobacco industry to promising new drugs. The ideal candidate will be able on top of the latest, most important drug studies, will have sources beyond the PR teams inside the CDC, FDA and NIH as well as the major drug makers and will be able to juggle both breaking real-time news as well as long-form features and executive profiles.

The position is remote through at least the end of 2021 but can be based in Washington, DC or CNBC's headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. thereafter.

What you'll do:
• Generate story ideas, break news and cultivate sources at high levels in the executive suites of the companies, federal and state governments, legal and investment communities.
• Cover breaking news with accuracy and authority in real time.
• Occasionally cover company earnings, corporate finance and other investment news that matters to our core readers.

Qualifications/Requirements
What you'll bring:

At least five years of experience as a reporter, preferably covering biotech, pharmaceutical companies or healthcare regulations and legislation.
• Proven track record breaking news and filing stories in a fast-paced, real-time news environment.
• Experience reporting and writing investigative stories and/or long-form features.
• A collaborative demeanor with experience working and coordinating with multiple teams and across multiple platforms: social media, TV and digital video.
• The ability to perform in a high-volume, deadline-oriented environment.
• Strong writing, reporting, social media and technical skills.
• The abilitity work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and/or weekends as news breaks.

Desired Characteristics

You'll stand out if:

You have a Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience.
• You have cross-platform experience on radio or TV.
• You have experience at a major online news site, daily financial publication, or the business desk of a midsize daily newspaper.
• You're passionate about digital storytelling and creating the best reader experience online.
• You have ongoing knowledge of and interest in the business world and financial news.
• You have a solid understanding of web standards and SEO.
