Transmitter Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

CBS Detroit (WWJ-TV) and CW50 (WKBD-TV), the CBS News and Stations owned & operated in the #15 television market in Detroit, is seeking a highly qualified Transmitter Maintenance Supervisor who will be responsible for monitoring and supervising multiple transmitter sites for our stations.

Responsibilities included but not are limited to the following:
• Overall supervision of the transmitter facilities, ENG microwave and monitoring transmitter performance to ensure broadcast signals conform to FCC regulations
• Keeping required records and files for compliance with FCC rules and regulations.
• Maintain, install, upgrade, and configure standard broadcast television equipment.
• Ordering parts, supplies, and tools as required for transmitters and associated equipment
• Supervision of emergency generators at the studio and transmitter sites.
• Monitoring the work of third-party agencies and ensuring everyone on-site follows proper physical safety procedures and restrictions imposed for radiation hazards without exception• • Provide support for station operations in major station efforts or special projects.
• This position is vital to the operation of the station and will be required to be ''On-Call'' in the event of technical or security emergencies arising at the transmitter sites.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
• At least 5 years previous experience with AES and SDI signals, and ATSC transport streams in a broadcast environment.
• At least 5 years previous experience with DTV transmitter and RF system measurements and maintenance• • Excellent project management skills, including design, documentation and system integration• Understanding of FCC DTV compliance requirements
• Understanding of FCC EAS regulations.
• Ability to read schematics and engineering drawings (ACAD experience is a plus).
• Desire and ability to learn and implement new hardware and software technologies• • Efficient and effective troubleshooting skills in a high-pressure environment.
• Self-motivated and willing to work various hours, including occasional overnights and weekends.
• SBE certifications preferred
