Investigative Producer

Job Description

CBS News is seeking an Investigative Producer to generate content in a dynamic environment. We are seeking an expert investigative journalist -- a creative producer with a wide range of contacts and sources who can develop tips into deeply reported and detailed stories for all platforms. The Producer's primary focus will be identifying and generating original segments of local importance to the Philadelphia market with compelling storytelling and innovative, multiplatform delivery. They will develop specialties and gain access to under-reported communities to tell stories that have otherwise remained unexplored.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop, research and produce investigative topics with consistent frequency and impact for the newscasts, specials, streams, websites and apps of CBS Philadelphia.
• Work closely and collaboratively with correspondents and anchors in writing and presenting segments that engage our audiences. The Producer will work with ease in both the field and the edit room.
• Cultivate sources, land sought-after interviews, and navigate open records laws, including FOIA. Seek out collaborations with CBS News affiliates and Paramount audio and documentary partners.
• Urgently develop and carry out investigative angles to elevate breaking news coverage for day-of air.
• Work closely with editorial leadership, journalists and legal counsel in crafting accurate, well-documented, compelling stories.
• Communicate frequently and optimally with respect and candor, and maintain highly collaborative, productive working environments and relationships with organizational team members.
• Represent company professionally at all times in public interactions.
• Must be willing to work an unpredictable and adaptable schedule as the story warrants.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• 5+ years' experience as an investigative producer or similar role in a medium to large market.
• Portfolio of investigative content that led to accountability, change and broad recognition, as well as audience growth and brand definition.
• Excellent editorial, reportorial, organizational and communication skills required.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities
• Video editing skills preferred.
