WFOR CBS 4, the owned and operated station in the 17th largest DMA market in the country is seeking an experienced news manager to lead a team of video journalists and video editors to the next level. The successful candidate will be a leader in innovation and a champion of collaboration and teamwork.
Requirements:
• 10+ years network or major market experience
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience
• College degree in relevant field and/or relevant training and certification history
• Outstanding video storytelling skills and the ability to mentor others on video skills is a must
• Strong non linear editing experience is a must
• Self-Motivated leader with proven problem-solving abilities
• Commitment to continuing to foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and innovation
• Keen knowledge and interest in emerging technologies and industry best practices
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills and organizational skills
• Ability to make quick, sound, ethical decisions while working under strict deadlines
• Willingness to work overtime, flexible shifts, and holidays as needed
• Strong computer skills in a mobile environment
• Ability to multi-task and juggle high-profile projects with meticulous attention-to-detail
• Certification as commercial drone pilot a plus, or willingness to obtain one
• Ability to operate ENG van and live remote equipment a plus
• Valid Florida driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability to work outdoors, lifting, bending sometimes in extreme weather conditions
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with assignment desk manager and news managers on scheduling to ensure that there is appropriate coverage to support the needs of a 24/7, 365 day/year newsroom
• Approve employee timecards and time-off requests within a timely manner, in conjunction, with news management
• Collaboratively develop and refine visual standard best practices, training and dept. workflows
• Track and manage videography gear, and equipment and supplies to address quality and safety concerns
• Coordinate with Remote Supervisor to ensure all fleet management service and safety requests are addressed in a timely manner.
• Serve as point of contact, along with Remote Supervisor to maintain smooth operation of all transmission devices including LiveU units and ENG vehicles. ,
• Work with news managers to develop and execute large scale event coverage, like Election Day, live remotes, and Special Events.
• Shoot and edit stories regularly using Grass Valley Edius editing platforms as needed
• Source and recruit robust pipeline of qualified candidates for open photojournalism and ENG positions
• Regularly coach and provide feedback to team to continue professional development, including satellite training, ENG, Drone, and emerging platforms
• A strong adherence to safety procedures and requirements is a must
• Work with news managers to address and performance concerns and conducting annual performance reviews and goal setting
