KPIX 5 is looking for an Assistant News Director to help oversee newsgathering and distribution, develop station presence in the community, and implement a character-driven approach to storytelling!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate strategy and execution of news on multiple platforms across all dayparts
Lead aggressive coverage of all breaking news and weather events, working closely with CBS News Bay Area and cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco to ensure the platforms are updated with breaking news.
Work with News Director to develop a vision and identity for each newscast and coordinate the daily execution of that vision.
Work with News Director to own all station events and community outreach projects
Be a champion for good culture and stand-out storytelling
Mentor and encourage on-air talent, producers, and photographers to generate unique content
REQUIREMENTS:
• Proven success in a leadership role
• Ability to train and guide editorial team
• Thorough knowledge of social media and the competitive digital news environment
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of news management experience in a medium/large market
• Must be willing to work unpredictable hours based on coverage needs
