Job Title: ASSIGNMENT EDITOR – 2 Positions

Description:

CBS WFOR-TV in Miami has an opening for an Assignment Editor who can determine news assignments based upon event of the day; Monitor law enforcement frequencies and fire frequencies on newsroom scanners for spot news; Telephone law enforcement and fire fighting agencies to learn if spot news must be assigned; check wires for on air bulletins or special reports and new story assignments; prepare a situationer describing in detail what stories are being covered, who is covering them, and approximately how much air time is required for each story; gather information by telephone on news stories which are not assigned to reporters; participate in story meetings to inform participants of events being covered; schedule remote trucks (ENG/SNG) for live news stories or interviews; develop contacts in community and cultivate those contacts for news stories; perform other duties which may be assigned from time to time bases upon events of the day.

Requirements:

Applicants should have a minimum 2+years assignment desk experience. Knowledge of television broadcasting and familiarity with South Florida area. Two years college preferred
