Assignment Editor (CBS-KTVT-Fort Worth)

CBS-KTVT-DFW has an immediate opening for a dynamic hardworking Assignment Editor. This individual is a highly competitive news professional that thrives on beating the competition and getting the story not just first but right. Responsibilities:
• Meet deadlines in high stress breaking news situations
• Generate and develop enterprise story ideas, develop impactful, varied community partner relationships and contacts, and participate in editorial discussions
• Monitor multiple platforms and maintain updated files for ongoing stories. Collaboration with Producers and Field Journalists is paramount

Preferred Education, Experience, and Certification Requirements:
• BA degree in Journalism preferred
• 2+ years of experience in the newsroom preferred
• Knowledge of television broadcasting
• Strong news judgment, organizational and planning skills
• Strong tech skills
• Familiarity with Accurint and Lexis databases; CMS systems and Grass Valley/Stratus server and edit software is a plus
• Must have basic ability to write for digital or broadcast platforms
• Possess the ability to respond quickly, calmly, and expertly to deadlines, changing circumstances and breaking news; must be able to quickly prioritize and make decisions requiring critical thinking and independent judgment
• Willing to work a flexible work schedule
