Newswriter (Freelance)

CBS MORNINGS is seeking an innovative, hardworking Newswriter to join our fast-paced team of producers, to create the most informative and dynamic morning show on network television. This person should have a keen eye for the latest breaking news stories, and a passion for storytelling.

RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:
• Write compelling, succinct news stories under tight deadlines for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Must be able to write to elements, including video and graphics, for a television broadcast.
• Must have experience writing anchor copy, teases, correspondent scripts, and package scripts.
• Research and evaluate news stories and sources.
• Assist in the producing of news segments and breaking news special reports.
• Keen eye for detail including spelling, fact checking, balance and fairness.
• Work in a team atmosphere and incorporate editorial feedback.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be a member of the Writers Guild of America (WGA)
• Related College degree and/or equivalent preferred.
• At least 4 years of television news writing at network or local news level.
• Experience on INEWS/ENPS or equivalent news computer system.
• Familiarity with news feed services including CNN Newsource & CBS Newspath.
• Must possess excellent production and time-management skills.
