Morning Meteorologist

Job Description

CBS14/FOX44 in Sioux City, Iowa has an opening for a Morning Meteorologist. The successful candidate must be a strong communicator on-air, on-line and in-person. He/she must be well versed on the latest weather technology, be an accurate forecaster, passionate about being involved in community service projects/groups, and of course love weather. The candidate must also have a proven track record of audience engagement on social media that drives viewers to our broadcast and social platforms.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Forecasting, producing and presenting clear and concise weather casts, which tell a story and connect with viewers
• Analyze weather data and prepare an accurate forecast
• Issue warnings and alerts, produce unique graphics and maps
• Cover severe and breaking weather situations across all platforms
• Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations
• Post weather content to station website, social media accounts, and apps
• Strong leadership and teamwork is a must as our weather team is involved in the newsroom and the community
• May occasionally have to report in the field

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or closely related field
• Fluent with new and emerging weather graphics and technology, such as WSI
• Strong communication skills (written/oral)
• Fluent with social media platforms and social management tools, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, or able to learn
• A valid driver's license, with a clean driving record, is required
• AMS or NWA certification or ability to earn either seal
