The Role

BuzzFeed is looking for a Post-Production Tech Supervisor to join our Production Technology team. BuzzFeed produces a wide scope of diverse content, ranging from short form social media content to BuzzFeed episodic shows. This role will be integral in maintaining effective performance of our post-production ecosystem, which includes multiple shared store environments, archiving libraries, and our technical support ticket system.

You Will
• Maintain effectiveness and reliability of our Post-Production ecosystem, which includes local/remote SAN & NAS storages and AWS storage, both S3 and Glacier.
• Manage a team of archivers, media managers, and Post PAs to comprehensively implement and execute systems/policies.
• Support users with daily tech help desk requests, encompassing Premiere issues, OS errors related to video workflow, hardware malfunctions, and license transfers.
• Work with the Post-Production leads in implementing our digital asset management strategy and archive workflow.
• Work with Post-Production staff to continually streamline processes, and red flag issues before they occur.
• Manage and maintain all of our macOS & Windows edit workstations with assistance from IT. Workstations exist locally, remotely, and also virtually.
• Manage and maintain OS and software roll out to the team.
• Look for and identify gaps in workflow and build tools for automation as needed.
• Occasionally recover data from broken hard drives or corrupt media files.
• Work closely with IT to forecast and cover Post-Production's ever-growing technology needs.
• Research and implement relevant software for Post-Production including NLE, Color, Sound, VFX, and work-from-home tools.

Part of what makes BuzzFeed a pioneer in digital media is our commitment to exploring new ventures that lead to spreading truth and joy. As such, you may be asked to share your knowledge with your colleagues through presentations or trainings, to screen and interview job candidates, or to take part in recruitment or networking events on behalf of the company.

You Have
• 4+ years of advanced experience with Adobe applications, including Premiere, Media Encoder, After Effects, and Photoshop.
• 2+ years media managing storage servers, such as a SAN or NAS. Experience with Quantum StorNext is a plus.
• 1+ year experience with AWS, such as S3, Glacier, or EC2.
• 2+ years managing a team of five or more.
• Deep knowledge of macOS and Windows regarding video workflows and storage administration (SMB, drive formats, modern connectivity standards, etc).
• Deep knowledge of common frame rates, bitrates, and video codecs (ProRes, DNxHD, H.264, H.265, etc).
• Basic knowledge of networking standards, such as IP addresses, DHCP, subnet masking, Cat5E, Cat6A, etc.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a simple, easy-to-understand manner.

FYI - job descriptions are not a one size fits all, just because you don't meet every requirement doesn't mean we don't want to hear from you. If you think you'd be a good fit for the job anyway, use your application to show us why!

You can expect:
• A supportive, inclusive atmosphere on a team that values your contributions
• Opportunities for personal and professional growth through work experience, offerings from our in-house Learning @ BuzzFeed team, our Employee Resource Groups, and more
• An attractive and equitable compensation package, including salary and stock options.
• A generous benefits program featuring paid time off, unlimited sick time, comprehensive medical benefits, a family leave policy, access to mental health platforms, retirement plans, gym and wellness discounts, and much more.
