The Role

BuzzFeed is looking for a Jr. Prod Tech Developer to join our Production Technology team. BuzzFeed produces a wide scope of diverse content, ranging from short form social media content to BuzzFeed episodic shows. This role will be integral in the building the automations behind our productivity software, as well as providing technical support that our users need on a daily basis. This role benefits from a unique mix of video production knowledge and modern developer scripting skills.

You Will
• Build custom automations as part of larger projects or smaller individual requests, such as API database polling syncs, webhook triggers, Gmail/Slack notifications,
• Build tools using the best programming language for the task: JavaScript, python, SQL, bash etc.
• Help maintain all automated processes that facilitate Prod Tech stakeholders, including archiving, production databases, ticket systems, asset distribution, and more.
• Monitor daily health of platforms/scripts required for workflow, including Google App Script, Airtable, Frame.io, Zapier, Zendesk, AWS commands and more.
• Along with a larger team, troubleshoot users' tech issues as they arise on a daily basis.
• Regularly publish release notes for system updates.
• Support extensions of existing proprietary systems to aggregate and report data
• Continually seek to find new tools to improve efficiency or workflow.

You Have
• 2+ years experience with scripting languages (javascript, python, bash)
• Experience working with API integrations is a plus
• Working knowledge of Google Workspace/G Suite apps, including Sheets, Docs, and Drive
• Familiar with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and the Creative Cloud suite
• Familiar knowledge of video production workflow, including stages of pre-production, production, and post-production
• Excellent communication & time management
