The Role
BuzzFeed is seeking a Brand Planning Manager who will bridge the business-side and the content-side of marketing to yield remarkable work for BuzzFeed's brands and client partners. This function unleashes the power of our unique audience insights and brand voice to ensure we're operating to BuzzFeed's unique strengths in the marketplace. This position reports to the Senior Director, B2B Planning, at BuzzFeed.
As Brand Planning Manager, you will be a thought leader for B2B partnerships and can help BuzzFeed unlock the power of its unparalleled audience understanding to develop an original approach to strategic planning for brands and marketing for BuzzFeed. You will craft compelling consumer narratives, manage strategic growth initiatives, help position our products, answer RFPs and drive the business forward with big ideas and innovation.
Overview:
• Build and execute go-to-market initiatives that drive awareness and understanding of BuzzFeed's audience
• Help define and shape BuzzFeed's internal brands and positioning for our Sales teams
• In partnership with our Product Marketing team, develop the roadmap for product integration into our go-to-market initiatives and large client partnerships
• Translate and shape clients' briefs, defining what they need, and ensuring our work delivers against objectives
• Utilize BuzzFeed's rich data, insight, and tech to become the unique voice of the audience in creative development
• Shape pitch narratives in collaboration with creative and sales teams to improve our win rate and renewal rate with clients
• Oversee and collaborate on consumer journeys that help provide integrated content solutions along with a clear through-line that rationalizes how and why our solutions work
You Will:
• Develop a roadmap for client communications, events and narratives from the BuzzFeed brands
• Work side by side with Content teams and the Product Marketing team to define tentpole opportunities that clients can plug into
• Work closely with Content and Research teams to develop brand narratives and Thought Leadership that defines our unique value prop in the marketplace
• Distill BuzzFeed's vast audience knowledge into clear actionable consumer insights for our clients' brands
• Create audience toolkits, templatized RFP responses and customized pitches for highly qualified client partnerships
• Identify new biz categories to crack
• Work closely with Product Marketing and Creative teams to create repeatable RFP responses for turnkey sales opportunities
You Have
• At least 6+ years of experience and incredible proven impact working in technology, advertising, digital media, or related fields
• Expertise in various dimensions of strategic planning: both brand planning (brand foundations and consumer insight) with specific expertise in communications planning (integrated connections planning that defines the role and connection of each element)
• Understanding of what makes brands grow, and how the new media landscape unlocks unique digital advantages for BuzzFeed
• Modern pop culture anthropologist with native understanding of internet culture
• Impeccable written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated ability to simplify the complex and write persuasive perspectives
• Strong point of view on what great digital content looks like
• Comfortable using data sources as diverse as revenue reports, Google Analytics, Facebook's audience tools
• Passion for content and BuzzFeed
