About the role
We're looking for an extraordinary individual to join our team in this newly created role which spans from Development, Production and Post-Production. The Vice President Non-Scripted will be responsible for growing, originating and managing non-scripted film and television content for our BRON Life division. The successful candidate will be able to plan and delegate to achieve goals and will be hands-on with production when the need arises.
This is a permanent position, which reports to Brenda Gilbert, Co-Founder and President of BRON Media Corp, and David Davoli, President of Television. The position is based in Los Angeles, but currently remote due to COVID-19.
Requirements:
Development to Production to Post: 60%
• Act as a creative lead/liaison between BRON Studios and its creative partners with a strong focus on in-house development and curation of original non-scripted content
• Assess the creative viability and the social impact of BRON Life (non-scripted) submissions
• Work and maintain strong relationships with showrunners and directors to develop stories from raw IP or spec ideas into producible projects for non-scripted programming
• Ensure that there is communication with respect to prioritizing submissions, meetings, or anything else that may need to be discussed among the group for BRON Life
• Read books, articles; source ideas; keep up to date with current state of affairs
• Supply notes and organize materials through phases of development to production
Buyer Relationships/Curate Projects: 30%
• Meet with writers/directors/producers/managers/rights owners/etc. to cultivate talent relationships and curate projects
• Have visibility and exposure to buyers; know what they are looking for and how we can best service them creatively
• Curate writer, director, talent lists for project staffing
• Evaluate material with pertinent notes (more than coverage) to help development executives process potential non-scripted projects
• Maintain constant awareness of industry trends and expand knowledge continually about film and television by watching and comparing new and old productions relevant to BRON's current or future slate – in other words, be a film lover whose education about cinema remains important, relevant and always expanding
Joint Ventures and Labels/Other projects: 10%
• Lend expertise to BRON joint ventures and labels by helping to assess the creative viability of its submissions and provide notes and feedback on submissions
• Work closely with the development team to optimize the use of interns, physical office space, personnel and creative environment
• Ensure solid processes in place to ensure project priorities are clear and well established
• Perform other consistent duties as required from time to time
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years working with non-scripted content produced for cable, networks and/or streamers
• Strong producorial experience with non-scripted content a plus
• Strong experience managing creative talent
• Proven track record of developing non-scripted content
• Ability to find new, fresh material and generate unique film/TV ideas
• Self-starter attitude and ability to manage through a period of change and growth
• Excellent relationships in the creative entertainment community
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Proven successful management and leadership skills
• Strong background in dealing with logistical management and deal-making
• Strong communication skills and relationship building ability
• Team player who works well with others
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and high energy environment
• Willingness to travel (when required)
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
