JOB DESCRIPTION
The Big Ten Network is looking for an Operations Coordinator to join their team in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will report to the Manager, Remote Operations, and will handle remote event operations planning for Big Ten broadcasts. As the Operations Coordinator, you are BTN's direct line of communication with the universities to manage and plan each assigned remote event. Your responsibilities will include planning and communicating all essential broadcast information leading up to and during the event. You will collaborate with show producers, directors, crewing, travel, production vendors, and Universities to execute Network events. You will be responsible for managing budgets at an event level, and will quality check that proper crews, travel, and equipment are in order for each Network broadcast. Experience in broadcast operations, managing event operations in advance of the telecast, and the ability to be on-site and on-call during an event as required are necessary.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with university facility and operations staff to manage and fulfill all event requirements to create and distribute a technical book for all assigned live events
• Lead fulfillment of event requirements in collaboration with coordinating producers, producers, and directors to ensure event complements and run-of-show are listed correctly in the technical book for all assigned event
• Act as the liaison between crewing, travel, and other in-house office personnel for all assigned events
• Fulfill all operations requirements while managing the event budget
• Direct remote equipment vendors, shipping coordinator, and all other outside technical service providers to ensure the event stays within budget and that the budget is submitted to the finance department by the given deadline
• Code and check vendor invoices in the finance system every week
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 1 - 3 years of relevant experience
• Basic understanding of remote television production
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Budgeting skills, with the ability to comfortably work in Excel
• Ability to work under pressure and self-guidance
• Computer software: Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Ability to perform the job efficiently and effectively through interpersonal skills and under pressure
• Familiar with remote production facilities and vendors
• Ability to travel for on-site productions
